Dalhousie Bargaining At a Glance

Pay

Precarious academics at Dalhousie are hired on a per-course basis. These academics have been working without a contract for two years, and they are poorly paid compared to other U15 Research Universities representing Part Time Instructors and Teaching Assistants. Pay has not increased since 2019, despite soaring inflation.

Strike

We are in a strike position. In March of this year, we voted to authorize a strike if necessary. As a strike would be disruptive for students and the community whom we strive to serve, the newly elected Strike Committee, along with dedicated volunteers, are working to avert a strike.

If the Employer continues to refuse to offer us fair working conditions, we may have no choice but to go on strike in September or October of 2022.
