Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

To coordinate and teach Skills Lab 7 (PHAR3074.02X) over thirteen weeks (Sept-Dec 2026) in the Fall Term 26/27. The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for coordination, lecture development and delivery of course content, for holding office hours and for assessment of students.

In Skills Lab 7, students will build on the fundamental communication skills introduced in Skills Lab 6 and previous Skills Lab courses. This course will provide the knowledge and skills needed to administer vaccines and medications by injection safely and effectively in selected populations.
NOTE: Prior to administering injections in a practice setting students must fulfill regulatory requirements as outlined by the pharmacy regulatory body of the jurisdiction in which they wish to practice.

This course is expected to be delivered as an in-person course.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
BSc(Pharm) and recent pharmacy practice experience is required. Previous teaching experience in pharmacy practice teaching is an asset.

To coordinate and teach Special Considerations in Pharmacotherapeutics: Geriatrics (PHAR3041.01Y) over thirteen weeks (Jan-April 2027) in the Winter Term 26/27. The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for coordination, lecture development and delivery of course content, for holding office hours and for assessment of students.

This course is a focused pharmacotherapeutics course relating to the management of common issues and conditions in elderly patients. Students will be introduced to concepts related to physiological changes in aging and how drug response may be affected. Key concepts relevant to the care of elderly patients including fitness, frailty, functional ability, social vulnerability, elder abuse and therapeutic decision making will be addressed as it applies to pharmacy practice. Students will be exposed to the concept of polypharmacy and the basis for medication review as part of the comprehensive geriatric assessment. The assessment and management of common conditions such a cognition, continence and falls will be reviewed and will complement topics covered in PBL cases in PHAR3052. Special nutritional challenges in elderly patients will also be examined. This course will further compliment general knowledge in PBL.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
BSc(Pharm) and clinical pharmacist experience with geriatrics is required. Previous teaching experience is an asset. This course is expected to be delivered as an in-person course.

This course is a focused pharmacotherapeutics course that focuses on physiological changes and drug use principles and management during pregnancy, lactation and growth and development in children. Students will be introduced to common conditions and complications in pregnancy. Special nutritional needs and use of vitamins and supplements for these special populations will be addressed. Assessment and management of common symptoms, conditions and infections in pediatric patients will be discussed. Current childhood immunization schedules and vaccine administration issues in children will be reviewed.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
BSc(Pharm) and clinical pharmacist experience with paediatrics, pregnancy and lactation is required. Previous teaching experience is an asset. This course is expected to be delivered as an in-person course.

To coordinate and teach Special Considerations in Pharmacotherapeutics: Geriatrics (PHAR3041.01Y) over thirteen weeks (Jan-April 2026) in the Winter Term 25/26. The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for coordination, lecture development and delivery of course content, for holding office hours and for assessment of students. Qualifications/Requirements of Position
BSc(Pharm) and clinical pharmacist experience with geriatrics is required. Previous teaching experience is an asset.
This course is expected to be delivered as an in-person course.
