This course is designed to provide an overview of the human life course through physiological, emotional, social and psychological perspectives. This course explores various perspectives and influences that contribute to human development. Students will engage in class discussions, writing and research assignments to develop critical thinking skills.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures and preparation and grading of assignments. The course will be taught using Brightspace (LMS– learning management system) and in-person on the Halifax Campus for the winter term . The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: HPRO/KINE/LEIS 5503 – Intermediate Statistics for Health Sciences (X-listed LEIS/KINE/HPRO 5503). The course will be offered in the Winter Term, from January 1st, 2027- April 30th, 2027. NOTE: This is an in-person course and includes lecture and tutorials.

This course provides graduate students with a working knowledge of statistical issues and methods commonly used by researchers in the Health Professions. The statistical software package SPSS is introduced and used by students throughout the course. Topics covered include a review of probability and one and two sample inferences for means and proportions. This is followed by some common experimental designs, contingency tables and odds ratios. Final topics are correlation and linear regression (simple and multiple), analysis of variance, analysis of covariance, and logistic regression. A term data analysis project is required in which students make use of both statistical methods learned in class and the SPSS software package.

This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to facilitate leisure education interventions designed to bring about desired changes in the leisure behaviour of individuals with disabilities. While the focus of the course is on leisure education, the overarching concepts of health, wellness, and health promotion will be incorporated into the course material. The course will address the following three broad areas: a) concepts and models of leisure education, b) content related to specific skills required for leisure involvement [leisure awareness, values clarification, social skills development, friendship development, stress management, assertiveness, leisure resources, decision making, etc.] and c) instructional and interactional techniques used in leisure education. Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: KINE 1104 Foundations in Kinesiology. The course will be offered in the Fall Term, from September 1st, 2026 – December 31st, 2026. NOTE: This is an in-person course.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures and preparation and grading of assignments. The course will be taught using Brightspace (LMS– learning management system) and in-person on the Halifax Campus for the fall term. In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparation in advance of the term. The Part time academic may consider offering office hours outside of class time.

Graduate degree in Kinesiology, Health Promotion or Recreation and Leisure Studies with demonstrated teaching ability preferred
