Position Title Part-Time Academic (MUSC 2020.03: The History of Jazz) – Summer 2025

Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for the teaching and grading one section of MUSC 2020.03 The History of Jazz. This class is taught in person, every morning Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu from 9:05 -11:55 AM (Studley Campus – Rowe Management Bldg RM#1020), from May 5 – 27, 2025.
The instructor is required to provide a Method of Assessment. This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Post-graduate education in music, either complete or in progress, and a demonstrated interest in Jazz studies; evidence of successful teaching at the university level, preferably in the area of Jazz studies; ability and willingness to incorporate or perform live musical demonstrations relative to the course subject matter; computer literacy.
Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement

This Part-Time Academic will be fully responsible for teaching and grading of the non-history portion of the course THEA 4735/MUSC 4360/HIST 4162: Advanced Seminar in Baroque Culture. This portion is worth one half (1/2) of the full credit course (equivalent to three credit hours) taking place in Český Krumlov, Czech Republic, from May 30 to June 30, 2025.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed and accommodation will be provided.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
PhD completed or near completion (ABD) in History or related discipline. Previous experience in teaching at a university level is essential, as is evidence of strong teaching effectiveness. Please apply online, with a copy of your curriculum vitae and a cover letter.
