Job Summary & Key Responsibilities | A Part-Time academic is required to teach RUSN 1020.03: Russian Culture & Civilization Under the Tsars in the Fall term (Sept-Dec. 2021), on Monday/Wednesday from 1605-1725. The class will be conducted in English and fulfills the first half of a writing requirement. The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including adherence to the Writing Requirement Class Guidelines, admission, lectures, test and assignment preparation, evaluation, supervising Teaching Assistants, electronic submission of grades, and hold weekly office hours. The Part-Time Academic reports to the Chair of the Department.
Due to the current Covid-19 outbreak and ongoing extensions to social distance protocols, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dalhousie University, will be moving this class online for the fall semester. Experience with teaching in an online environment is preferred. Candidates must be willing to teach online. All instructors hired to teach online will be supported by Dalhousie’s Centre for Learning and Teaching, and Academic Technology Services (support@dal.ca), to deliver their courses online. Qualifications/Requirements of Position | Applicants should possess a graduate degree or other academic and/or professional qualifications deemed suitable for teaching the class. A background in Russian culture and civilization, History/Literature is preferred. Competence in teaching techniques in English composition is required. Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level would be an asset. |
