This course is a requirement for students enrolled in the Honors BA in Theatre (Acting Program) and is a practical, physical, studio exploration into movement and dance techniques. Emphasis is on time, space, energy, correct body alignment and safe practices, with attention to the development of personal expression through the mediums of movement and dance, as well as on the development of practical skills in preparation for a career in the professional theatre. The instructor is required to provide a Method of Assessment in consultation with full-time Acting Program faculty. As well, the instructor is required to prepare and grade all assignments, and to calculate final marks in time for student interviews that take place at the end of each term. Final marks must then be submitted online. This position works in collaboration with full-time Acting Program faculty and reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts. The instructor works closely with the student stage management team, Fountain School of Performing Arts (FSPA) faculty and staff (supervising, checking and maintain proper professional CAEA standards and practices, as well as marking student work).
