Prior to the start of placements, supervisors attend an orientation
meeting with the Practicum Coordinator, as well as the mandatory meeting
with their students.  Supervisors must be available to attend the
orientation and mandatory student meetings. Additionally, supervisors will
then host two on-campus/online seminar meetings with their students.
During the academic terms, supervisors visit placement sites a minimum of
three times to observe and meet with students and their placement
supervisors.In addition, supervisors respond to student inquiries between visits;
provide students with guidance on placement requirements; provide students

mid-term and final evaluations. Compensation for travel is based on

Qualifications:
Child and Youth Study students undertake practicum courses in a variety of
settings specific to infancy, childhood, adolescence, the community
sector, and residential care. Placements are undertaken predominantly in
the Halifax region (100km radius of MSVU) and through Online Learning.
Prior to the start of placements, supervisors attend an orientation
meeting with the Practicum Coordinator, as well as the mandatory meeting
with their students.  Supervisors must be available to attend the
orientation and mandatory student meetings. Additionally, supervisors will
then host two on-campus/online seminar meetings with their students.
During the academic terms, supervisors visit placement sites a minimum of
three times to observe and meet with students and their placement
supervisors.In addition, supervisors respond to student inquiries between visits;
provide students with guidance on placement requirements; provide students
with feedback on practicum assignments; provide detailed feedback through
mid-term and final evaluations. Compensation for travel is based on
placement distance from the Mount and is within a 100km radius. Applicants
must have a graduate degree in Child and Youth Study, or a combination of
additional relevant degrees, and experience in the Child and Youth Study
field. Applicants must also have recent experience supervising practicum
students in a range of settings specific to infancy, childhood, and
