Job Summary & Key Responsibilities |
To teach one or two sections of CRWR 3021.03 Creative Writing Fiction II (sections 01 and 02) in winter term of the 2021-2022 academic year.
Section 01 is currently scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:35-11:25; Section 02 is currently scheduled for Wednesdays from 17:35-20:25. Admission to the course is upon satisfactory (ie. a grade of “B” or higher) completion of CRWR 3020/ENGL 3099. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, workshopping, and evaluation. The part-time academic should also be available for two hours per week for consultation with students. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position |
Applicants should hold an MA or MFA in Creative Writing or another relevant field with at least one recent book of published fiction. Demonstrated expertise in another genre of writing will be given preference, such as song writing, poetry, creative non-fiction, Sci-Fi, Indigenous literatures, Afrofuturism. Demonstrated expertise in current pedagogical methods of teaching at the post-secondary level is required for this position. Service as a university writer-in-residence may count toward teaching experience.
All applications should include a curriculum vitae, the names of two referees who may be asked to provide confidential letters of reference, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. Please indicate which section(s) you are applying for. For each part-time academic the Chair will conduct an annual assessment of teaching performance, now required under the CUPE Collective Agreement. This assessment will be based on student ratings of instruction and may also include classroom observation, conducted either by the Chair, Program Coordinator, or a representative from the Centre for Learning and Teaching with reasonable advance notice.

Qualifications:

Job Summary & Key Responsibilities | To teach one section of CRWR 2001.03, The Creative Process, in the summer 2021 part of term D, May 10 – June 1. This course will be offered in an online format. This is a large interdisciplinary class that focuses on creativity in a wide variety of artistic and other areas of thought and expression such as writing, painting, music, acting/directing, dancing, mathematics, medicine, and advertising. CRWR 2001.03 is a core course for students planning on completing a combined major or honours program in creative writing. The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including the evaluation of student work. The part-time academic should also be available for two hours per week for consultation with students. The part-time academic reports to the Chair of the Department. |
Qualifications/Requirements of Position | Applicants should be currently working in the arts community, and should have had some experience teaching in a creative field at the post-secondary level. Preference will be given to applicants holding an MA or MFA degree.
