WORK ASSIGNMENT: The instructor will be responsible for the delivery of four lab section components (1 x ERTH 4530, 3 x ERTH 3500) the listed courses. The Part-time Academic will be responsible for delivering prepared workshops, monitoring / responding to discussion board posts, grading weekly workshop submissions, as well as coordinating any additional Teaching Assistants assigned to these courses. The candidate will work closely with and take direction from the primary course instructor (Dr. Christopher Greene) for planning, development, and delivery of these courses. Qualifications/Requirements of Position |
Minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Geography, Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science,) with specific expertise in geographic information science and remote sensing (both theory and application). Relevant teaching experience will be considered an asset.

Course Description:
Students will examine the Indigenous Experience in relation to Environmental Assessments (EA) using a case study approach. The degree to which Indigenous Peoples participate in the EA process will be discussed. The potential challenges and shortcomings of the EA process will be investigated in projects that are currently under consideration or ones that have already been approved (e.g., mines, dams for energy generation, etc.). Gaps in the current environmental legislation will be identified and explored. Course discussions will be enriched and supplemented by guest speakers representing the experiences and expertise of Indigenous Peoples.
Prerequisite information:
A minimum of 45 credit hours.
Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications of applicants are a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science or a related field. Experience teaching at the University level, in the area of the relevant course, is essential. Established relationships with Indigenous Community Partners is necessary.
