Course title:  Foundations of Intercultural Communication

Semester: FALL 2021 dates: 8 September – 21 December 2021

Job description: The Instructional Assistant for ICST 1000.1 will monitor students participating in the class remotely on Wednesdays 11:30 am – 12:45 pm ADT. Ideally, the Instructional Assistant will be present in class on Saint Mary’s campus, but remote options are possible. Candidates that can be present on campus are preferred. The Instructional Assistant will conduct discussions and exercises with students following a set plan given by the instructor, is responsible for planning and leading individual class/tutorials (online), grading some of the homework assignments, and keeping records of the grades assigned.

Requirements for position: 

Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in English and possess an undergraduate degree or other academic and/or professional qualification(s) deemed suitable for assisting in teaching the class. Previous experience with intercultural studies at the post-secondary level is an asset. Candidates should have strong technological skills, strong writing skills, a strong commitment to student learning, and a strong sense of personal responsibility. Experience with teaching in an online environment is preferred.

Remuneration: In accordance with CUPE Local 3912 Collective agreement (16.06), priority will be given to part-time faculty colleagues who are on the Department’s precedence list.
