Laboratory Instructor and/or Tutorial Facilitator (multiple positions available)

PHYT 6115 Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy III (MSK 3) [Fall Term, September 3rd – December 6th, inclusive of Exam Period Deb 6-17]

The laboratory instructor/tutorial facilitator will assist the course professor by teaching advanced musculoskeletal material to Year 2 MScPT students in the practical/lab sessions and as a tutorial facilitator session. Lab and tutorial content will be available electronically prior to the sessions, including practical clinical skills of the various physical assessments and treatment approaches.

Numerous lab instructors and tutorial facilitators will be required to cover the multiple lab and tutorial sessions and specific content. You are not required to be available for all dates, however consistency among instructors for students will be considered and is valued. In addition, particular topics during some labs may utilize some particular instructors who have more experience. Labs are to take place at 9:35am-11:25am, with tutorials taking place on the same day form 11:35am to 12:25pm on particular lab days. A 30-minute pre-lab meeting will be required, making the start time 9:00am for lab instrutors. Some of the dates will be only lab sessions, some only tutorial sessions, and some both.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Candidates must be licensed Physiotherapists and currently, or have recently worked in musculoskeletal practice setting. Experience of at least 3 years of practice, additional credentials, and previous teaching, particularly in this course is preferred.

PHYT 5114: Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy and Health Promotion [Fall term, September 2– December 16,2025 inclusive of Exam Period] (Multiple Positions)
Labs occur weekly, on Thursdays 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm. Must be available for final OSCE Saturday December 6th, 2025, 8:00 am- 5:00 pm
The laboratory demonstrator will assist the course faculty by teaching physical assessment, documentation, and/or practical treatment skills and techniques in the laboratory component of this course for Year 1 MScPT students. The laboratory demonstrator will also be asked to act as an examiner for mid-term (Thursday October 16th, 2025) and final (Saturday December 6th, 2025) practical exams and to evaluate the students’ performance throughout the course. Preparation in advance for each lab and to be knowledgeable about the content, will be required.

Lab demonstrators will promote a professional environment for safe and effective student learning. Good interpersonal skills required to work with groups of students or for one-on-one interaction. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude toward students, fairness in evaluation and grading, and flexibility in approaches to teaching are also required.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
  • Candidates must be licensed Physiotherapists in good standing, with experience in the practice area of cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.

PHYT 6107 Neurological Physiotherapy Practice

[Fall term, September 2 – December 20, 2025, inclusive of exam period. Labs occur weekly, on Tuesday and Friday mornings between 8:30am – 12:30pm.]

The laboratory demonstrator will assist the course faculty by teaching physical assessment, documentation, and/or practical treatment skills and techniques in the laboratory component of this course for Year 2 MScPT students. The laboratory demonstrator will also be asked to act as an examiner for mid-term (Oct. 17th) and final (Dec. 8th) practical exams and to evaluate the students’ performance throughout the course. Preparation in advance for each lab and to be knowledgeable about the content, will be required. The laboratory demonstrator will contribute to preparation and evaluation of interprofessional health education assignments (Nov. 4th & 25th). Some additional hours may be required for limited meeting time with the course faculty. Lab demonstrators will promote a professional environment for safe and effective student learning. The lab demonstrator may be required to assist in conflict-resolution in the event that interpersonal conflict is interfering with student(s) meeting the lab objectives.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
  • Candidates must be licensed Physiotherapists.
  • A strong clinical expertise and experience in neurotherapeutics is required.
  • Candidates should be available for both the Tuesday and Friday labs each week and must state their availability in their cover letter.

Labs will run every Monday, Wednesday, and most Fridays between 12:30 – 4:30pm, including pre- and post-lab instructor meetings. Midterm OSCEs on Fri. May 16th, Fri. June 6th, and Final OSCE on Thurs. June 26th.

Description of the duties:

  • Attendance at Lab orientation session (1 hr prior to May 5th, date TBD).
  • Preparation in advance for each lab and to be knowledgeable about the content provided in the lab handout.
  • During labs, review and teach practical skills as outlined in the lab handout; provide feedback and formative assessment of progress toward learning outcomes.
  • Promote a professional environment for safe and effective student learning.
  • The instructor will serve as an examiner for assessment of practical skills, in designated labs during the term, and at the midterm and final OSCEs.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Candidates must be licensed Physiotherapists. A Master’s degree and /or advanced continuing education courses preferred along with strong clinical expertise.
