Job Summary & Key Responsibilities | WORK ASSIGNMENT: PHYT 5214 Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy II [March 1– May 31, inclusive of Exam Period]
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This position involves working with students in their first year in the MScPT program. The laboratory instructor will assist the course professor by teaching physical assessment and treatment techniques related to care for people with cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. The instructor will contribute to activities designed to develop students’ clinical problem solving and documentation skills. They will receive outlines of the objectives and teaching activities in advance of each lab and be expected to come prepared to be a helpful mentor to students. A short consultation time will proceed the lab to ensure mutual understanding of lab activities between the course manager and all the lab instructors. The laboratory instructor should be available to be an examiner in mid-term and final practical exams. |
Qualifications/Requirements of Position | Candidates must be licensed Physiotherapists. A Master’s degree is preferred along with strong clinical expertise in the cardiorespiratory physiotherapy. Previous experience in both respiratory and cardiac practice areas is a preference. |

Job Summary & Key Responsibilities | Laboratory Demonstrator/Instructor (multiple positions available) WORK ASSIGNMENT: PHYT 5215 Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (March 01, 2021 to May 31, 2021, inclusive of Exam Period) DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The laboratory demonstrator/instructor will assist the course professor by teaching lab material to Year I MSc PT students in practical/lab sessions. Lab handouts will be available electronically that cover the hands-on practical clinical skills of the various physical assessments as well as the various treatment approaches from acute care to discharge. Numerous lab instructors will be required to cover the multiple lab and tutorial sessions. Due to COVID restrictions, instructors will be assigned to a ‘pod’ of 8 students, and labs will be offered in 2-session format each afternoon between 1 and 5 p.m., i.e. each lab will be repeated twice. Lab instructor availability will be required 12:30-5:00 p.m. on lab days. Our currently scheduled lab days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. Applicant should indicate in their cover letter which day(s) they can be available. Laboratory instructors will also be asked to act as an examiner in mid-term and final practical exams (must be available all day). Further detail regarding the layout of the module, specific hours and content of the various laboratory sessions will be forwarded to interested individuals upon receipt of the application. |
